Manage/supervise day-to-day operations of 3 camps and their Camp Resident Directors. Under the direction of Associate State Program Leader, and in collaboration with Business Manager Youth, Families & Communities Business Services, UF/IFAS Facilities personnel, and Camp Resident Directors to coordinate UF/IFAS Facility Projects at the camps. Oversee hiring of all camp staff (maintenance, housekeeping and kitchen, ranging seasonally from 10 – 35 employees plus 32 additional Summer Program Staff.
Work with 4-H Camp Resident Directors, State Specialists, County Extension Agents and Volunteers to carry out Florida 4-H residential camping long range plan, and ensure sustainable facilities and quality program opportunities for 4-H campers and outside user groups. Specifically work with county faculty to establish clear lines of communication related to educational objectives and supportive educational activities, as well as assignment of educational staff and scheduling of facilities. Responsible for the implementation of the core residential camping curriculum during specified activities.
Organize and conduct 4-H Camping staff development annually, teaching principles of 4-H camping program design and related camp topics. Provide program and administrative leadership for the camp program committees for all three camps. Work closely with the Camp Resident Directors and in partnership with the Associate State Program Leader, on planning meetings, strategy sessions, program enhancement, resource procedures and other related camping responsibilities.
Increase the capacity of the Florida 4-H camping program through marketing efforts, donor relations, and new collaborations.
