ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Kimberly Gooch is an Everglades Literacy Program Coordinator in Orlando, Florida. She has been with The Everglades Foundation since 2019 where she has been connecting educators and community partners in central Florida to our Everglades Literacy Program. She has always loved Florida, and believes that the best way to protect our beautiful Everglades is to teach others about it. Before coming to The Everglades Foundation she worked in education at Disney's Animal Kingdom and SeaWorld, so environmental education has always been close to her heart.

Alicia Torres is the K-12 Everglades Champion Schools Program Manager at The Everglades Foundation.  Her work involves curriculum development, program management, and training educators towards becoming Champion Schools throughout the state of Florida. Before coming to The Everglades Foundation she worked in environmental education at FAU Pine Jog, and taught science for 15 years throughout Palm Beach County. She was inspired to get more involved in the environmental education field the more she learned about the impacts our actions make whether it's locally or globally.

Founded in 1983, the League of Environmental Educators in Florida is the professional association for individuals and organizations dedicated to the cause of environmental education in Florida. We are the state affiliate for North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), an organization that brings together those interested in the study and enjoyment of our natural world and one that has promoted excellence in environmental education throughout North America and the world for over four decades.

The League of Environmental Educators in Florida is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
