Biscayne National Park


Biscayne National Park's Education Program works to cultivate an appreciation of our natural world, leading to the preservation of Biscayne's natural resources along the southeastern edge of the Florida peninsula and ultimately the environment as a whole.

Biscayne offers teachers and students a variety of educational opportunities including ranger-guided and self-guided programs day programs, an overnight program and even an electronic field trip which can be done from the classroom.

Hours of Operation
The water portion of Biscayne National Park is open 24 hours a day.

Convoy Point, location of the park's headquarters and visitor center, is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Dante Fascell Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ranger-guided Education Programs are availble from November through April.

Self-guided Education Programs are available year round.

Directions
From the North Convoy Point can be reached from either the Florida Turnpike or from US-1. From the Florida Turnpike: Take the Florida Turnpike south, to Exit 6 (Speedway Blvd.). Turn left from exit ramp and continue south to S.W. 328th Street (North Canal Drive). Turn left and continue to the end of the road. It is approximately five miles, and the entrance is on the left. From US-1: Drive south to Homestead. Turn left on SW 328th Street (North Canal Drive), and continue to the end of the road. It is approximately nine miles, and the entrance is on the left. From the South Traveling on US-1 (Overseas Highway), drive north to Homestead. Turn right on SW 328th Street (North Canal Drive — first light after Florida Turnpike entrance), and continue to the end of the road. The entrance is approximately nine miles on the left.

Mission
To bring about a greater awareness of Biscayne's resources and programs and its place within the context of the global community. To provide an outdoor learning experience that speaks to the needs of a diverse population and is accessible to all geographic and socioeconomic segments of South Florida. To provide programming that addresses the whole person and challenges students to respect themselves, others and the world around them. To develop and promote critical thinking skills so that students can learn to make informed decisions. To conduct an Education Program that is issue oriented as well as resource oriented. To cultivate values and behaviors which lead to the preservation and protection of Biscayne's resources.

Cost of Programs/Admission
There is no entrance fee to Biscayne National Park. Biscayne National Park's Education programs are free of charge.

Features
Biscayne Expedition is a 3-day, 2-night resource based camping program that aims to instill an understanding and appreciation in your students for the natural world around them. Elliott Key is the site of the Biscayne Education Program's unparalleled outdoor classroom. Biscayne Expedition provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a learning experience and environment that cannot be duplicated in the classroom.
